I thought the first post of this blog would be something related to NCT 127 or a thing that I'm really interested in, but to be honest without being too informative and deep, I've been feeling down lately. I think a lot of us, specifically American teenage high schoolers, have been. I say it like that because the whole world is not currently under the stay at home order. Things have been anything but normal the past two weeks. It's basically an extended Christmas break when I look at it, (this is the third week going into it) but what makes it weird and unbearable is that we don't know when we're going back to school. Thinking about all the dances and random dress up days we'll miss is a little bit sad, even if some of us say we don't care about them.
Things I've been doing to keep sane - besides classically overreating - have been getting back on top of my art. I recently got a Wacom tablet for my computer and now I can learn how to do digital art, plus if I get a laptop ever in life I can keep using this tablet over and over. Speaking of computers, I found out just how much my computer can do. Right now I'm typing this first blog post on my desktop computer, a Lenovo that's been updated throughout the years so we have no idea how old it actually is, but it's old. I've had lot's of downtime to explore this computer, using free online screen-recorders and installing Autodesk sketchbook on it (it's an amazing free alternative to photoshop and is for anyone who wants to illustrate digitally). The quarantine has also given me time to move some of my personal files onto a flashdrive so the computer can run more smoothly.
Instead of watching Pandemic on Netflix I've watched lots of RealLifeLore videos, videos about cargo ships that I didn't know I would get into, and lots of Kpop and Jackson Wang. I post on my art instagram (update: it's no-longer running) and performed flute cover requests through my personal account last week to cheer some of my friends up. As of right now I'm also considering learning a dance to keep in shape for my lifetime activities class since I'm still required to exercise for the class even though it's online.
This time is really hard, but I hope I've made some of you inspired. I think about how smart and uplifting we will all be after this is over and what we'll be able to tell others about this in the future.
Stay safe and keep hydrated.
